Kenjamin Button - Spirit Bomb
This is another animation I was commissioned to make for small YouTuber Kenjamin Button.
It is also for the video about flying characters in fiction, this time for the outro.
I actually made the spirit bomb portion first, starting when the character holds his hands up. Then, a while later, the client explained that the original animation was too short for his needs, so we worked on prolonging it by adding the character meditating and then taking flight.
The process
The first animation followed my usual process (validating the animatic, making the animation while regularly updating the client, and then revisions).
A while later, I was given an edit with the first animation placed on a voice over: the fist 10 seconds were a black screen. We talked about how to fill this blank space, and validated a rough animation with mainly looping animation. The rest of the process was the same as usual. I’m already used to the character design and the whole art direction of this project, so it was no problem.
Takeaway
I love working with Kenjamin. I can always stretch my creative muscles and make something that he’s happy with and that is also enjoyable for me to work on.
“LaJoueAnimation is an incredibly talented and kind animator and artist. I have worked with them 3 times now and each project is better than the last. I can’t wait to see what our partnership has in store for the future!”
